2020 Tundra vs. 2020 Sierra 1500

2020 Tundra vs. 2020 Sierra 1500

If you’re in the market for a full-size pickup truck that can work hard, play hard, and keep everyone comfortable at the same time, there are few that can do the job as well as the Toyota Tundra and the GMC Sierra 1500. These trucks are both built tough, with heavy hauling capacity and potent power as their driving forces. But that’s not all they can do.

The 2020 Tundra and the 2020 Sierra 1500 also make sure all of your occupants will enjoy the drive, with spacious cabins and top-notch tech equipment.

But like many things in life, you have to do a little homework on your own to make sure you’re getting the best pickup for your own unique needs, preferences, and budget. If the Tundra and the Sierra are both at the top of your list, then read on for a little help discerning the differences and to see which of these class contenders deserves a spot in your driveway.

Price and Value

No matter what type of vehicle you’re shopping for, price matters. And in this comparison, the advantage is a clear one, going easily to the lower-priced Toyota Tundra than the Sierra 1500.

That’s not to say that the Tundra is sparsely equipped, however; it doesn’t cut any corners or leave out features in order to keep the price point affordable. In fact, this pickup is packed full of great features from the base model on, with standards including a Wi-Fi hotspot, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay®, Amazon Alexa, voice recognition, three USB ports, and a variety of smart safety equipment.

The pricier Sierra 1500, on the other hand, skips out on some of these desirable features in its base model. In order to get voice recognition, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more than one USB port, you’ll have to spend more for a higher trim that’s better equipped.

Power and Performance

The 2020 Tundra features a workhorse of an engine in all of its trims. This 5.7L V8 makes a whopping 381 horsepower and gets the Tundra moving with plenty of muscle in all driving scenarios. Tundra’s TRD Pro trim is popular among those seeking to use their pickups off-road as well as on. This trim adds off-road performance enhancers like specialized shocks, front tow hooks, and enhanced styling both inside and out.

The 2020 Sierra 1500 offers several engines, but you’ll have to upgrade to get one that has the kind of power the Tundra puts out from the start of its lineup. The base engine of the Sierra 1500 is a 4.3L V6 that makes 285 horsepower and lags behind the potent Tundra.
